Gerber Downwind Drop Point Fixed Blade Knife, Olive
$ 14.21
I work in a sporting goods store, and we just got these in. The first thing I look at is usually the steel choice…7Cr isn’t the best, but this knife is priced pretty low so I’m not gonna rag too hard on that decision. Blade shape is fine, the G10 handle scales are great, but *why* can I not see the tang? With the (solid rivets?)I can’t even take the scales off to see how the tang is constructed. On a knife of this design there is zero reason it shouldn’t be a full and exposed tang, but the way they’ve constructed it feels like they’re trying to hide something. The larger front rivet thing is loose on the first one I opened, too, so quality control is poor. Gerber, if you had just made a full tang and secured the handle scales with something like Torx bolts it would easily make this worth it even at a slightly higher price point.
